1. Keep a journal tracking what you eat at each meal. Then record the level of ear noises after that meal so as to make a connection. Aspirin contains salicylates and these have been linked to ringing in the ears. Certain foods are high in salicylates. Unfortunately many of these are fruits such as apples, grapes, oranges, peaches and berries.
2. A change in diet should make a difference in the ringing levels you’re hearing. Researchers have found a connection between a deficiency of magnesium in the diet and tinnitus. Green vegetables(especially spinach), fish such as halibut and nuts are rich in magnesium.
Alcohol and caffeine tend to deplete your magnesium levels so I would recommend avoiding these drinks and seeing what the result is.
3. The first is obvious. If you’re still exposed to loud noise, you must remove yourself from that environment. For me that meant I couldn’t play rock and roll anymore. I also found that my electric coffee grinder resulted in an increase in ringing. I found that wearing ear plugs for the few seconds I ran the grinder helped.
4. Ginkgo Biloba has been found to be very helpful for many. Two tablets three times a day with meals can help by stepping up the circulation of blood in the head and neck. Try this treatment for at least 2 months to see if this natural remedy will help.
5. Low levels of Vitamin B-12 have been associated with tinnitus and its symptoms. It was recommended by an Israeli study that an increase in the intake of this vitamin should make a difference in lessening the noise levels that tinnitus sufferers hear.
6. I highly recommend meditation. This relaxation technique works to lower your pulse rate, blood pressure and ease the noises that you hear. It has the side effect of helping you not only cope with your tinnitus, but will result in you being happier and at peace with the world.
7.I found relief from treatment by an osteopathic physician that gently manipulated the bones in the head or what is known as craniosacral therapy. The belief is that this relaxed the auditory nerves.
